Overview
This case study focuses on the development of a Ticket Machine Interface for a Centralized Ticket and Pass Buying System.
Alongside the web application, a specialized interface was developed for ticket vending machines used at transportation hubs.
This interface aimed to provide a streamlined, user-friendly experience for passengers purchasing tickets directly at physical locations.
Problem Statement
Many passengers still rely on physical ticket machines at transportation hubs for on-the-spot ticket purchases.
The existing ticket machines operated with outdated software that was often confusing and inefficient.
Passengers frequently experienced long wait times and difficulties navigating the interface.
The goals for the ticket machine interface were:
- Simplified Navigation: Create an easy-to-use, touch-friendly interface that allows passengers to quickly purchase tickets.
- Optimized for Speed: Reduce the time it takes for passengers to complete a transaction, minimizing wait times during peak hours.
- Seamless Integration: Ensure the machine interface is fully integrated with the centralized ticketing system, allowing consistent access to ticket options and pricing.
Objectives
The objectives of the project were as follows:
- User-Friendly Interface: Design a simple, intuitive interface that could be operated by passengers of all ages.
- Fast Transactions: Ensure quick ticket purchasing to prevent bottlenecks at busy transportation hubs.
- Touchscreen Optimization: The interface needed to be highly optimized for touchscreens, with large buttons and minimal navigation steps.
- Real-Time Data: Provide real-time ticket availability and pricing from the central ticketing system.
